Modern Foreign Languages

Introduction

Modern Foreign Languages department in Ormiston Bushfield Academy is very lively and enthusiastic and our aim is to foster students’ enjoyment of language learning, to have high expectations of students’ achievement and behaviour, to promote understanding and appreciation of the cultures and ways of life of other countries, to encourage pride in successful linguistic achievement and to ensure that pupils achieve their full potential in public examinations.

French is the main foreign language taught to all pupils in KS3, 4 and 5 and in addition to French, Spanish is offered to gifted and talented students.
We are delighted to announce our Language Leader Award Programme. This is a programme that has worked very successfully at OBA, with Year 9 students to develop leadership skills through languages. Students are being trained as teachers to teach French in our cluster primary schools.
